History
The company's story began in Kuala Lumpur's tin-rich state of Selangor, where Yong Koon initially created ceremonial items like joss stick holders and incense burners. As the British colonial presence grew, the company expanded its offerings to include European-style items such as tankards and tea sets. The brand was first known as Selangor Pewter.
In 1992, in a testament to its long-standing relationship and high regard from the royal family, the company was granted a royal warrant by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. This led to the company changing its name to Royal Selangor, a name that has since become a proud symbol of Malaysian artistry on the world stage.
